What is Eco Fest?
EcoFest 2026 is Auckland’s month-long environmental celebration, inviting everyone to discover, inspire, and act for Te Taiao (the natural world).
Runs from 22 March to 22 April 2026 across Tāmaki Makaurau, featuring community-powered events.
Explore five themes: Mauri Noho (Conscious Living), Waka Hourua (Clean Transport), Kīnaki Kai Reka (Foodies’ Fix), Te Whaihanga (Makers’ Mayhem), and Torohē Nuku (Explore Nature).
Events include seed libraries, nature walks, photo contests, and hands-on maker workshops.
Sponsored by Auckland Council and community partners — businesses can join as sponsors for 2027.

5 Signs You’re Unprepared for the School Holidays (Even If You Don’t Have Kids)
You haven’t checked public transport closures
Most Auckland train lines will be shut or partly shut during Easter and the school holidays, with buses replacing trains. Major closures affect the Southern, Eastern, Western and Onehunga lines from 3–27 April, especially 3–6 April and 13–15 April. Check here

You’ve got no activities planned
School holidays (3–19 April) mean crowded playgrounds, sold-out movies and busy malls. Even without kids, it pays to plan ahead — cafés, walks, events, movies or a weekend away.You haven’t booked holiday programmes
If you need childcare, book now. Holiday programmes fill quickly, and leaving it late usually means fewer choices and higher costs.You haven’t planned for Easter traffic
Expect heavy traffic around Auckland, the Bombays and northbound routes from Thursday afternoon to Easter Monday.You haven’t done the holiday stock-up
No snacks, no easy meals, no fuel — then suddenly the supermarket is packed. A quick stock-up now can save you a stressful weekend.

West Wave Learner & Hydro Pools Closing
The learner and hydro pools at West Wave Pool and Leisure Centre will be closed from Tuesday 7 April to Sunday 12 April for maintenance.
Learner and hydro pools closed.
Main pools, gym and rest of the centre stay open.
If you use those pools or have lessons booked, you will need other plans that week.

New Indian Supermarket Opens in Henderson
DH Supermarket opened last Saturday at 5 Moselle Avenue.
New Indian supermarket with groceries, pantry staples and fresh produce.
Not to be confused with DaHua Supermarket Henderson.
Other nearby Asian supermarkets include Golden Apple Supermarket, Japan Mart Henderson and Tai Ping Asian Supermarket. We are spoiled for choice!
It gives Henderson and nearby suburb locals another option from the larger chains.
